What the heck is this? I think it's probably from a military aircraft, perhaps part of either the navigation or bombing systems:

Could it be from an old fathometer? You would think that the scale would be in fathoms, but sometimes sea charts are in feet instead of fathoms.

Kinda peculiar that the anode lead goes in the middle of the screen.

I don't know if that would be the anode lead...in most tubes of this size like oscilloscope tubes, the HV anode goes right in the base socket as it is not terribly high (1-5 kV).

I dunno what that post in the center is, but I thought perhaps a needle of some sort may have gone to it at one time.

Someone gave me a bunch of stuff from the shop of a dead tech a few years back and I remember a whole pile of strange, small, crts with similar markings on them. I have often wondered what they were and if they had any value. I left them there because I could see no practical use for them in the TV and radio hobby plus the space around here is limited. If anyone needs one I think they are still there. I would be most interested just to know what they were used for:dunno:

Perhaps the pin is only to line up the CRT correctly for the unit in which it is to be used.
