Picked up a cute little Sparton today

I found this oddball looking Sparton at a flea market for $36 + tax. It does need to be restored; but, looks to have potential. The vendor had a beat up Silvertone battery tombstone for $15 and a beat up Silvertone battery table model for $24. I decided to leave them there. I made the comment to the cashier that I wouldn't even try to get a better price today. She told me that it wouldn't do any good with that vendor. It's either his price or it's a no sale. The only reason I paid what I did was because it wasn't the ordinary AA5 radio that's so common at flea markets (often with a big price tag).

I can't find any ID on this Sparton. If anyone recognizes it and can give any information, I'd appreciate it.

I'd say early-mid '30s.

Thats a nice radio! Well worth the 40 bucks. These'll all be gone one day and they'll be worth a heck of a lot more. Potential for sure. Let us know how she turns out!

Thats a Sparton model 61/62 made in 1933. I have a cabinet to one of these but am missing the chassis.

Thanks for the information. I notice this set uses one of those "curtain burner" resistance line cords. I'll have to modify that part of the circuit to make the radio safe to use.
