Finally got around to working out the vertical bugs on the CTC-11 I got from you. A few leaky film caps that got worse with heat. The freeze mist didn't really reveal the problem until I stuck a few meters on the pins of the vertical output tube. The plate voltage would decrease slightly with warmup and the screen voltage was fluctuating slightly. If I shot the coupling caps with some freeze mist the fluctuation would stop.

I recapped the board and the problems went away. Just because they're film caps doesn't mean they're impervious to failure. They are 46 years old!

Have to touch up the convergence again, and the CRT is a bit tired, but it still lookin good! Its a daily watcher.

Jordan............Very good Live-TV screen shots. What shutter speed and F stop did you use?

Great job!!! Do you need the channel knob for that set? I can't promise I have it, but I may...

Yes, great job indeed! The color is gorgeous on that thing. CRT must not be too tired unless you've got the brightness all the way up to make it look that good. Where do you have the bright and contrast set? It looks very crisp and pleasing to the eye.

Nice set! It looks like a great picture to me. I'm guessing that since this set has a front glass, that this model doesn't have a pva layer and would never suffer from cataracts?

Separate safety glass and a 21BFP22 = no cataracts ever!

--thanks for all the comments guys.

Your CT11 is the first RCA to use the 21FBP22, IMO the best of the roundys!
No wonder it looks so good. Do you have a saturated color bar gen? I'd sure like to see the color accuracies.....Tom

jpdylon 10-21-2008 11:38 PM

The camera Fstop is at 2.8 and the shutter is at 1/30 speed. That way I can capture a full frame instead of just one scanning field. Gota have it on a tripod or stable surface though or its easy to blur.

I do have an old color bar generator, but I don't think it will display the saturated pattern like in your avatar.

I'll have to see about taking some more screen shots after I get the time to converge it.

If you save an image to your desktop, and right click on it to check the properties, you can see all the data of the camera and the exposures.

jpdylon 10-22-2008 11:57 PM

cool! I had no clue it was in the file properties.. I guess with that screen shot the shutter was a little slower than I thought! :scratch2: At the time the display showed 1/30
