RCA Victor KCS 701 tuner ?
Hello everyone!
I'm not "into" the vintage TV stuff, but came across a little unit that I thought was a tubed audio TV tuner. Intrigued, I bought it. Now after looking at it more carefully I'm not sure exactly what it does! I did some searching on Google & eBay but turned up nothing. On the front it says simply "RCA Victor", has a half-round window marked in increments from 14 to 83, and two knobs, one for tuning, the other marked "off, uhf, vhf". On the back: three sets of screw-type connectors with the old style antenna wire going into the unit, 1) VHF, 2) Receiver, 3) UHF, one unmarked RCA jack, and one marked UHF that sure looks like a coax jack. Stamped in ink on the chassis showing: 274, 344, KCS, and 701. Anyone have any knowledge of this unit? Pete |
Pretty common when I was a kid. Most sets were VHF only and that was a UHF tuner that you would add to your VHF only TV set.

D'oh! So much for adding a tubed tv receiver to my stereo :( .
