Found a 1-076
 

Looks like I'll be getting a set that is close to what I'm searching for. It needs quite a bit of work and is missing the phonograph. But I'm sure I'd regret it if I passed it up.

This is a 10" 1949 Sylvania console.

Too many things were falling in place. bgadow recently receiving and loaning me the factory service manuals. The seller of this set joining ak shortly after my listing was made. My neighbor driving through Georgia about the time I'm buying it so he'll probably do the transport.

I think I'll be quite happy.

Congratulations! You will be able to have fun working on this set and meanwhile continue to look for the model you are really seeking. And I agree with you...I'm sure you would regret it if you passed it up. Keep us posted on your progress with it.

Thats exactly what i had pictured in my mind when you posted about wanting one of these. The one i told you i had seen looked just like that one except the grill cloth was still good :) I'm glad you were able to find one as they arent the easiest ones to locate as you well know. I cant wait to hear more about it once you start working on it. The turntable will be alot easier to locate along with the grill cloth and speaker. The hard part of the search is over. Good luck!

Thanks Tony. The speaker I can repair or get repaired. But, is it really going to be easy to find the turntable? I would think these dissappear into a junk yard. I'm not sure that anyone having one would know where it came from.

Working on the set should bring back memories. As a child I wasn't upset when it would quit working because it meant I could help my dad work on it.

I guess you were right about the turntable. The vintage BSR looks a lot like it. Enough like it that it wouldn't bother me.
