I was out of my mind!!!
 

While waiting for the ending of the auction for the bakelite Admiral, I found a HUGE beast... and... just couldn't resist... I had the money... so... I bought it!!!

It is VERY far from me, and most likely I will pick it up myself. What do you guys think - it's a 24 or a 27 inch??? I am pretty sure that it is NOT a 21 inch set ( the seller didn't informed how many inches it is ):

The Admiral auction will only finish Friday night... If I win, I will have two more very nice sets to my collection!!!

What do I think? I think I need to learn Portuguese.

Congratulations! If the set in the photo is a 24" set, then the outer diameter of the knobs are about 2.4" That seems reasonable, but difficult to distiquish between 24" and 27"

But it is at least a 24 inch, right??? There's no way for it to be a 21 inch... correct???

I don't know that you can rule out a 21" set. But, it does bear a resemblence to this 27" set.

You can't see the outside of the doors and the legs are different, but the bezel looks the same as does the Emerson plate.

Well, I'd say its AT LEAST a 21" set-But I'd lean more to a larger size. In any event, you've got yrself a VERY pretty set there-a REAL honey ! Hope you can get it working.

Indeed, it really looks GORGEOUS. The seller said that it is most likely in working condition, but - thank God!!! - he also said that he didn't pluged it in for fear of damaging something, so... it was sold "as is."

It would be terrible if such a nice set were ruined by a careless seller, who would not be worried about plugging in a TV that most likely was not turned on in years or decades.

The seller is a trader of antiques. I will talke to him again by phone until the end of this week. When I talk to him again I will ask about the origins of this TV. I bet that such a huge and well cared for TV could only have belonged to a very rich family.

I see on a map of the world that Brazil is a really big country, similar to the size of the USA. I imagine you're in one of the big cities near the coast on the southeast part of Brazil. Hopefully this TV isn't located at the other end of Brazil, in a town reachable only by sailing up a piranha infested tributary of the Amazon River. :D

The TV is in a big southeast city, and I am in much smaller town at the south. I am quite experienced at picking up vintage TVs there already... what things a man doesn't do for his hobby???

Televisions made before 1958 usually can only be found in the southeast states.

OK, I'm betting on the 27 incher.

I haven't gone there to pick it up yet. Probably will do that sometime before Christimas.
