My wife does NOT want an iPod for Christmas!
. . . so she tells me tonight "I'd like a radio I can stick headphones into." She mainly wants to listen to her favorite talk shows on AM. She'll listen to music as well, but it will live in her office.
Alright, well, personally I think the Tivoli radio's hit the mark on looks, quality, etc. My wife is into retro looking european design, and loves color. She's in the fashion business. So I'm wondering if there are other recommendations on radio's that are simple to use, look sweet, and can get AM stations on the 10th floor of a concrete building downtown . . . at a price south of $150. I wouldn't mind thoughts on matching headphones (smallish) that a lady might like. Here's radio's I've read about on AK that look like worthy contenders: Tivoli Model One Sangean WR-2 Sangean WR-11 Sonido Radio |

PM me.I might have an inexpensive solution here for you,if she wants portable radio music. Jimmy |
I'm a bad boy . . . after posting this thread, I went looking for more info and found a company selling the last of their Tivoli Model One's for $79. I couldn't pass that up, so I bought it. However, 2Duals I'll pm you since I wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts. Maybe it's something I can get for me :)

Well, not so good news (I think). I got a cancelled order email this morning. Evidently, that online store didn't have any more Tivoli Model Ones. Of course I can still buy one, but since it will be closer to $120-150, I'm wondering if I should be considering one of the Sangean radio's.
I don't know if my wife will care if there is a digital or analog readout with the station. Or if she cares if she has preset buttons. And I don't know about you guys, but I don't want to buy her a radio I would want, but something she can enjoy. In a roundabout way, I'm hoping this is an opportunity to show her how fun a radio can be . . . |
