help me get off my lazy butt

i have a 1960 rca ctc10 color set that was given to me by 2 elderly customers several years back. i had been in a barn for years. they told me the school kids would pile in every afternoon to watch color tv the tv came from ohio. i had the cabinet redone and a new video display crt installed in it the 21cyp22 was shot and a recap job. the tv had a fantastick picture on it. but it had a filter crawl in the pix. turned it on the other day and it popped and i unplugged it. i want to do another full restoration on the chassis before the end of january. i need some motivation. i will post pictures of the restoration job. happy new year to everyone. steve

You will not laugh! You will not cry! Now get out there and restore that fine piece of vintage gear with a history lesson in love for all of us! Drop and give that TV some love!

Did that help? :D

Put it where you will see it everyday. When my restored Zenith roundie was down recently, Every time I looked at it I was bugged that it was not working. It sounds like you might just need another electrolytic cap.

You have something a lot of us would absolutely give our eyeteeth for-a nearly 50 yr old color set, the technical know-how to fix it & do it right, & you're lettin' it sit idle ?!? Good God Gertie, man, what is yr problem ?!? (grin)

Agreed, get it sitting where you have to look at it every day; keep thinking about how this is its last chance to display an all-analog picture. Ignore the fact that I walk past my CTC-5 every day, really wanting it done in the next month...maybe it will get done, maybe not...anyway, you have got to try.
