Cool!

The one on the left looks like mine, the first "small-screen" tv I brought home. Expect a bunch of bad resistors and a ton of caps to change. Fun sets!

Congratulations!

I posted those for someone over at ARF, and they never responded... too bad for him.

zenith porthole

Well one is in really nice shape, however it has a crack in the safety glass . The other has a good glass but the cabinet is in poor condition and its missing the right side control access door . So basically i will have to make one good set out of the both of them . The channel selector on both seem to be frozen . These were in storage in a attic above a garage . I have not pulled them apart yet nor have i took the back covers off . The cabinets are a bit different but the front of each set are the same and i believe they use the same chassis . They are heavy as all hell and it was a job carrying them into the house and down into the basement . Cant say when i will ever get to them being i have two tvs apart now and plenty more projects still waiting .

I like those portholes too, and have never been able to find one in my almost 9 years now of collecting tvs. I've never even seen in person any Zenith older than '56. I wonder if Zenith didn't distribute many sets over here on the west coast in the 40s and early 50s.

I been running across a lot of stuff lately . I am guessing that being the economy aint so great and a lot of people are out of work , so they are pulling stuff out of their attics and basements for extra cash .

This looks fairly good, but too far for me. I have one just like it. If it was closer i would have twins.

I have one very similar to those. It was found in the basement of a Zenith dealer in Pittsfield, MA. It actually worked quite well the last time I tried it--picture-wise; very bright, sharp and clear. The sound was good as well, but the sound and picture don't fine tune together. Another project....
