I know nothing about old radios. Its in excellent condition and works perfect. I have no idea when it was made or how rare it is.
its a Motorola... |
Oh man is that NICE.. I'd be all over that if I had a chance... I have no idea of value, but I'd probably pay more than it's worth just because I love that old Deco style and beautiful wood... so long as it was the original finish... I'm guessing mid 30's on the date.. maybe as late as 38 or 39 going by the style

1937 or so Motorola 6Y. This was part of Motorola's first line of household radios. 6-tubes with AM and two SW bands. The dial is pretty unique. The round dial is split into three sections, one for each band. When you rotate the band switch, the dial rotates. The dial indicator is a light bulb inside a housing with a slit in it that allows the light to be projected through onto the back of the dial. The whole light bulb and housing rotate around the visible portion of the dial as you tune. I sold one that I restored this past summer. I think I got $85 for it IIRC.

Motorola consoles aren't seen that often...at least around these parts. That looks mighty nice!
