Guys, how do you go connecting vcrs to older roundies?

I know from experience that a lot of older color sets have problems with the instability of domestic VHS recordings ..with tearing and color dropping out????

VCR's can be a problem. DVD players with an RF modulator seem to be the way to go.

As most all DVD players have S-video outputs, one can prefilter and then merge the luma and the chroma signals together to create a special composite video signal you can then feed to an RF modulator. As vintage color TVs use simple notch filter chroma-luma separators, any high frequency luma around 3.58Mhz gets misinterperated as chroma. The false colors crawling up the ref's shirt in a football game. This prefilter removes that high freq luma, and the other filter on the chroma signal is there to block loading of the low frequencies of the input luma signal.
