Tv's and crt's in Barn by me
 

I have found a barn filled with about 100-120 color and b/w sets about 70mi north of me, Went there today grabbed a couple late sixties RCA sets (I will post those in rectangular) There are quite a few roundies, One being a coronado, several Admiral and a bunch of RCA clones. Anyone need Tubes? This preson will give away anything so cost is not a factor..
Catch is you would have to come to Michigan to get em!
Hey Veg, Looks like there is a late 60's sears like the one you wanted, Can you make it out in the pic?
It was really hard to get at the sets and I didn't really have much time so these are all the pics I got. Some sets were saved and were covered with plastic so they might not be so bad.

The last time these tv's were touched was 1982. They have sat ever since.

Most of the roundies are on the bottom of the piles or up by the wall. There are picture tubes in boxes but they look like used ones.
This barn is large and there was another room that I found a CTC 22 along with a lot of other stuff, Never really checked further as the lack of time.
I don't think there are any CTC 5 or 7 roundies just 11 and up.

Any CTC 16s? Wouldn't mind a spare picture tube or flyback etc. Am always interested in oddball Zeniths too----am still looking for a set like the first one my folks had:

Early 60's or late 50's table top Zenith B&W with a weird checkerboard affair channel indicator. I believe this was pre-UHF Thanks!

The inside of that barn looks exactly like the inside of the local TV shop attic where I've found some of my sets! Just a big mess piled up on top of each other!

Looks around in there good, Cap. There's bound to be something "special" in there!

I'm getting Classicradios (jim) involved also as this looks like a big project moving stuff out and trying to see exactly what is there.
Once we get that out of the way and know exactly what we have maybe some other people will volunteer to come up here and get some stuff.
If you look to the left side of the picture, There is a Motorola 23" color their first rectangular one with a degauss switch in back by the antenna terminal strip. The back is facing frontward. It is in too bad of a shape to save though as water had been dripping on it so long the cabinet is shot and the chassis is solid rust.
I had really been looking for one of those too...

Here are photos of the Barn taken today. All these Roundies remain. The Zenith in the first TV photo has a broken CRT neck, The RCA "New Vista" has a great solid Cabinet but no chassis only the 21FJP tube remains. The 3rd TV photo shows an Admiral roundie but it's rusted completely inside and out! Any takers?

Here's the last of the "Roundies" Still in the Barn.
The first 2 photos show a Zenith and Philco Both are stored far from windows and are buried under other sets so they may be the best condition sets in the whole barn. There are also some rectangular sets around those 2 I couldn't photograph. The last photo shows a roundie with a faded cabinet and significant rust on the chassis.

I don't know if the Hanta Virus is a problem in your area but I would be careful if you see a lot of Mouse droppings!
That looks like an ideal enviroment for the critters:eek:

I had an idea (amazing huh :D) does anyone near you have a CRT checker? You could check the jugs in the worst sets and if they were bad that would at least narrow down the field of stuff to save.

I have a nice compact B&K 465 that I would send to you to use if you want?

I am interested in it, but have no way to get it at this moment, due to the (still unresolved) van situation. Maybe it can stay there, or somewhere else, for a little while, until I can figure out waht to do about a vehicle(I MUST have a vehicle by next month).It is complete, is it not?

Wow there's certainly a lot of good sets in there even though they are stuffed up real bad! If ONLY this barn was in Australia. Probably more likely to find a barn full of slabs of beer over here than a barn with old TV sets. Ah well can't win'em all.

Must say it's amazing what these farmers collect over the years. Looking at Chuck Pharis's site, he seems to get a lot of his early broadcast gear from farmers barns. Some reason a lot of farmers seen to collect old TV/broadcast gear and because of them a lot of this vintage stuff get some preservation and doesn't end up in a landfill :D . Good onya farmers :D !!!

Anyways I suppose for those collectors whom have plenty of spare colour chassis' and tubes and other parts, these TV sets can be restored.
