60s color set.
 

This image appeared on a HGTV show "That 60's House".

Can you identify this set? Do you think it is something concocted by the producers from some other console and the face of a 60's set? In that case, still wondering what brand of TV and what the console was - can't read the name. (captured from a VHS tape, unfortunately)

Kinda looks Photochopped to me. 4 knobs up top & another 4 on the bottom? Looking at my '65 Zenith roundie-top knob is VHF & fine tuning- bottom one is UHF & on/off/vol. All the other controls are behind a little door below the speaker. Also, my Zenith doesn't have the little rim around the mask next to the CRT-nor does it say "COLOR" or whatever below it. I think they'd stopped identifying "COLOR" sets by putting that on 'em by the mid-60s. Probly done by some 25-year old production assistant who's great w/computers, but has never even seen a real roundie & was told to make up an "old color TV." Another dead giveaway is the obviously fake image on the screen. Hey, nice try, but no soap...-Sandy G.

The control layout/knobs match my CTC-11 right on. I've noticed that non-RCA sets using these chassis' don't stray much from the control layout but generally use their own knobs. Maybe a smaller independent, or some sort of custom job? The nameplate looks similiar to what Sylvania used for awhile.

I think the knob layout looks a little "motorola-ish". The emblem below the screen also appears to start with the letter "M". But we all know that Motorola built very few color roundies.

That leaves Magnavox. Where's that Magnavox guy when you need him?

I agree with Bryan... that is a CTC-11 set all the way, or at least a re-branded clone.

On an RCA, the crt bezel would say COLOR across the bottom, and although it is unclear in the photo, you can tell it does not say that here. It almost looks as if it says Sylvania. Notice how it looks like there could be a lower case 'y' after the first letter?

Just a stab-in-the-dark guess, but the nameplate below the CRT looks to me like Magnavox.

Yes, i can see how it looks that way. That name had not occurred to me. There is definately a letter with a "hanging tail" in the beginning of the name.

It does look like Magnavox, and it's in the right spot on the mask. Look at the page I've attached here, and scroll down to the Magnavox dealer brochures. The logo looks similar. The sets shown all have the controls topside, but in the last brochure page on the right, one of the sets has speaker decorations close to the ones in Steve's post.
