Sweet looking Motorola Suitcase!
Check this one out, nice blond suitcase set in excellent condition, has the antennas, the straps are intact and look at the shine on that copper chassis!

It's on my watch list!!

Its not very often you find one of these complete and in this good of condition. Even the starting bid is reasonable for a change. I hope someone here gets it.

I'm local to the Set, so, I might go for it.

very nice !!!!!!!!

I'm currently bidding on it. . ..

Well I didn't get it. That sucks too. I really need a project :-( What the hell is up with these things that let people bid within 10 seconds of the auction ending? It seems like an automatic bid. That just doesn't seem right. My bid was highest until 10 seconds. WTF? It ended at 242.50

Matt, that's a bummer you didn't get it, hopefully someone here did?
I'm actually surprised it went for so little considering the condition, must be the economy. The Suitcases (and the Bakelite's) have been high for a long time, if they are clean with all the attachments. I paid $200 for mine almost 10 years ago and it had some spots on the case (they cleaned up fine) it's wasn't even on eBay, just some guy who contacted me and asked if I wanted it, scary but it worked out fine. :D |
Definitely one of the cleanest I've seen! And it's the 1950-51 model with the semi-porthole screen, and doesn't use the dreaded rubber CRT gasket. It's going on my watch list too, but I'm still recovering from my Sony Indextron winning bid last week, and probably can't afford to compete on this set.

Maybe I'm living in a dream world, but that price seems high to me. I got my suitcase set in trade with another collector for a CRT that he wanted and I had no use for.
These Motorolas must be just about the most common early TV. Cleanliness isn't a big factor for me, as long as a set is complete and unabused. We all know how to clean things up. Just my $0.02. Phil Nelson |

This has definitely got to be one of those sets which gives off a strange leather-like odor after it warms up. Just the nature of the beast. Tube gear in a wood or fabric cabinet is going to have that old-tubegear smell. Kind of a cool thing, really.
