I thought the knobs might be wrong but looking at the Sams for it they appear to be correct.

He also has also a 621TS and a Motorola VT-105.

I've bought a few things from Harry, & never been disappointed..He might be a little on the pricey side, but in my expesrience, you get what you pay for, & it gets to you INTACT.

ditto on Harry. You definitely get what you pay for. When he says its in great or like new condition - it really is!!

I agree totally. Harry never disappoints and his sets are described accurately and he really does know how to ship. That Garod is beautiful. That would make a great restoration. Too bad I can't justify the expense.

I've known of him, and spoken with him on the phone a few times over the past 30 years. Nice guy, and definitely one of the longest-time TV people among us. You get what you pay for, and he charges fair market prices for good stuff :)

He used to send out news letters/catalogues to all of the TV collectors, by mail, in the 80s. I'd drule over some of his prewar sets, which he used to find more often in the 80s on the East Coast. I never was able to afford one from him, and Arnold Chase or Kent Warner (R.I.P. circa 1985) would always snap them up.

I have always been happy with my dealings with Harry. He has saved many a rare set from the junk pile and made it available to the collector community. Bravo. And the Garod is REALLY cool!

Is the Garod an RCA based Chassis?

As a fledgling radio/tv collector in the 80s (a teenager) I would drool over the ads/newsletter articles Harry would run. There was a great article in Don Patterson's Radio Age with Harry finding a load of early sets. I reread that thing a dozen times, wishing it could be me!

And I recall those finder's fees he was offering for 15" color sets....

Me too. Too bad there was no Internet then... I think there were quite a few of us around, and we were all thought to be the only under-50 (nerd) in the world who liked old TVs. This hobby, while I would never have given it up, cost me the ability do get a date as a teenage kid. Having an alliance among us, as we have here on AK, would have felt rewarding :music:
