For you Brits monitoring this forum...

It would appear there are at least two of you (since there was a discussion of a Phillips K-4 set)... I thought of you guys when I turned my roundie on at 7PM tonight to catch up on Corrie, and quickly grabbed my cell phone camera (Thus explaining the crappy image quality). :D

That David Platt is pure evil!!! (Recall that we are 6 months behind on episodes, so he may have repented by now... Don't spoil it for me!)

That's excellent. I didn't know that Coronation Street was shown in the US. I guess that there are a lot more American TV shows on British TV than British shows on US TV.

The colour rendition on that set looks very good Carmine.

Toodle pip. :)

Kind regards.

From Mike.

Hi,

for comparison, see how many American TV shows and movies (США) are on the Russian TV! I count 10 American TV shows in total on the schedule of one day.

It is cheaper to import American TV shows and movies than to produce own television content.

Kind regards,
Eckhard

Corrie on U.S. TV

I think he may be receiving Canadian channels there in Detroit; I don't know of any U.S. outlet that carries Corrie, I don't think it's allowed because of copywrite. I use to watch it all the time off satellite on a C band system I had for years.

Mike:

Many PBS stations here carried EastEnders although they were several years behind. I was a big fan but they stopped showing it here a few months ago and just when Little Mo was being tried for attempting to murder Trevor!

Now if only I could read Cyrillic :scratch2:

What american shows are on that schedule?

Carmine 04-16-2009 08:27 AM

I am receiving the show from Canada (which won't be digital until 2012) although a good number of old British shows do run here on PBS (the closest thing we have to BBC in terms of sucking up tax money).

I have cousins in the auto industry that were on assignment in Manchester until the industry went tits-up globally, so I have some idea how many American shows run over there.... And I apologize.

There should be an international treaty that prevents dumping toxic waste like "friends" on friendly nations. Just be happy we don't send stuff from UPN.

:puke:UPN

Yes, it was one of the small joys with leaving the 'soap television' behind in England. Imagine my surprise when we moved to Canada, the evening prime time tv is Corrie!

Aaaaaarrrrrgh!

Still, it could be worse: Home & Away, Emmerdale, Neighbours, Eastenders etc. It's enough to put you off your warm beer ;)

Wonder if they have The Jerry Springer Show in England ? Jerry is, after all, British, it wouldn't be QUITE the same thing as sendin' 'em "Hee-Haw" or "Beverly Hillbillies"...(grin)

Carmine 04-16-2009 10:49 AM

Sandy, I am afraid they do have Springer... I've heard it mentioned on Corrie more than once.

zenithfan1 04-16-2009 11:14 AM

:puke: The Jerry Springer Show. We really have crap on tv in America. And to think, the people that are guests on the show really do that stuff. I'm sure there is embellishment for tv but still.....

KentTeffeteller 04-17-2009 05:25 PM

Yes, Jerry Springer happens! The only TV Show host who needs a 6 pak of Eventide Profanity Delays. Redundancy is good !
