RCA 811K Console - Just Got It
2 Attachment(s)
I just picked up this RCA 811K console.
It has "magic brain" electronic tuning. I paid $25.00. |
Very nice. Yours looks to be very complete and solid. They're nice units.

That's a great model and it looks like it's in very nice shape.
It was a top of the line model for RCA in 1937. 11 tubes, 'magic eye', 'magic brain' (motorized tuning), and the 'magic voice' (12 inch 10 watt speaker). I read somewhere that it cost something like $692 when new which was about the price of a Ford car at the the time. Lot's of information available on that model on the internet. Here's a great RCA service link to get you started with the schematic and other service info (just scroll down to the model number). http://oldtech.net/RCA.html Great score! Have fun with it. |
Great score!

The information in the link is in the RCA 1937 Service Notes book which I'm lucky enough to have. One of these days I'll get to it!! |
Excellent find!
That set will play great when you get it done. Actually, the top of the line set for '37 was the 816K, followed by the 813K, and then your 811K. All are excellent performers, and all have electric tuning. I have an 813K and it is a great-sounding set. You will have fun working on this one. Keep us posted when you get to it. Gilbert |
Homina ! Homina ! Homina !.....(grin)

Excellent score! I'm sure this set will be an excellent performer when you finish restoring it.
