Emerson Goodness
Found this beauty yesterday. Used some Howards on it, and it looks fantastic. Luckily, this one functions well.

This seems to be one of their most popular chassis I've seen. There are several different variations of cabinets for the same model #. They are a wonderful sounding unit! Well done-Ray>:thmbsp:

Thanks all!
Mike, They really did, and I have more radios that are even more ornate and gorgeous I will post soon. People are to concerned about price these days, so we sacrifice the quality and appearance for low costs. Tis' a real shame. |
Who would have thought the concept of 'skinning' goes all the way back to these early radios.
|
I suspect part of the problem of quality in the modern world is that we expect to have so many things so fast (not only radios but TVs in every room, multiple cars, fancy kitchen gadgets, the computers were are enjoying right now) that we are unwilling to pay for quality or wait to purchase until we can afford it.
Of course there are other factors such as increases in labor cost etc. but I think that the above is a factor not often considered. mike |
Emerson sourced many of these ornate cabinets from the Ingraham Clock Company thus "Emerson Ingraham" in most ads. Devoid, yours is a Emerson Stradivarius with that partial violin shape.
