Admiral 19A15S proper knobs
I just picked up this nice little Admiral 19A15S tonight and I'm trying to figure out what knobs go with it.
It came with white knobs for volume and contrast. The channel switcher was a hacked up knob. The fine tuning is correct I believe. Those white knobs stick out pretty far and I doubt they are right. Any ideas? http://www.bobandersen.com/images/19A15S%20knobs1.jpg Here it is with a real Admiral channel knob and a little black one from an Admiral radio. http://www.bobandersen.com/images/19A15S%20knobs2.jpg |
You're good to go with the channel selector (bottom pic). The other knobs aren't hard to find:

Hey I saw that on CL today, great save! I was gonna email 'em but you saved me from the hassle:D

Thanks for the great pics. Odd thing about that channel selector -it's just barely hanging on. It seems like the shaft is to short, but the chassis is pushed forward as for as it will go. Hmmm. Maybe the foam around the CRT has hardened holding the chassis back?
I've seen a blonde Admiral with a gold painted selector. I wonder if that more appropriate :scratch2: Ah, here it is. Eric H posted one 7 years ago Quote:
The seller was really nice - I got him down to $80 and he delivered it to my front door! Best of all - it works :D. |
Weird how there are no markings of any kind on this model as compared to the bakelite. No logo, control labels, etc. When I first saw it on CL, I assumed it had been refinished and they got striped off.

There are decals on the wood set, it's just hard to see them because they are gold over a light color.
This set was refinished but i didn't strip the front, just cleaned it up and lacquered over it. |
Thanks for the great photos!
Nuts. I guess somebody refinished mine. It must have been years ago. It sure looks old. The Admiral radio decals from radio daze are way too small (1-3/32" wide). Does anyone know of any other sources for an Admiral logo decal ? Maybe it's time to try making my own using water-slide decal paper. |
