Identify this TV!!!

It's very hard to tell, but I'm sure someone here might be able to identify it.

This is a picture taken of my aunt, in around 1961. I'm just curious about what that TV is in the background.

By the way, this is in western Canada, so it's possible this is a Canadian set.

I don't really know for sure, but I had a 1957 Emerson 21" b/w that looked a lot like that set.

I think that's a Westinghouse. I'm pretty sure we didn't get Emerson tvs in Canada in the 50s.

It also looks a lot like a 56-58 Zenith with "top tuning". The knobs don't look like Zenith though.

Betcha it's Black 'n' White...(Yeah, I know...No smartass comments from The Peanut Gallery...)

I have an Admiral in my garage with a similar layout.

I'm going to split my vote between Westinghouse and Emerson, leaning toward Westinghouse.

The logo that you can barely make out on the top front of the TV is the right length and style to say "Westinghouse" rather than Admiral or Zenith or Emerson.

Nothings seems to fit quite right. Airline and Emerson seem close, except for the logo placement.

Last two photos stolen from tv.history

This is the set that I was thinking of.

Not close. We have to remember that different sets were sold in Canada and the US. The set in the OP's photo looks very like a set a friend had in Sarnia Ont. in the 1960s. That was a Westinghouse. Having the Westinghouse logo on the top of the safety glass was very much the style of Canadian Westinghouse sets of the 50s.

Rummaging amongst my thousands of service manuals in the back room, I came across these two. Maybe not quite a cigar, but at least a cigarillo...:smoke:

The knobs for the "Brow Control" set are an EXACT match to the ones in the OP's picture.

There's a Westinghouse of the model I was thinking yours was, in our barn:

I wonder what drugs the design staff at Westinghouse was using. Not too many attractive sets come from them.

I'm putting in a vote for Westinghouse; I had a table model very similar to that one.
