What would you offer ?
 

Im looking at this set in Vancouver .
The seller claims to have paid $ 250 for it several years back , but is not looking for that much .
I was considering offering $125 tops .
It looks a bit beat up .

Your suggestions ?

I paid $9 for one at the ETF convention this year.
Personally, I would not pay over $25, but others might..............

When I want something I pay what is needed to get it. Under $100.00 would be my goal. Good luck!

That Set is worth, maybe, 50 bucks.

...or, it would get tossed.

I'd buy it as a parts set, only. It's too rough, cosmetically.

I wouldn't go over $50 either unless I knew the CRT was good.

That model has a cloth grille that covers the entire front of the set, it looks pretty ratty on that one.

Hate to do this to the seller, but I think they're dreaming if they are going to get much above fifty bucks for that....

Please do not give them over $50.00.

But first check the CRT!!!!

It would be neat to see , but shipping it here would be out of my price range .
According to RCA they weigh 93 pounds .

Shipping from Vancouver for this one might be bad enough .
Too bad I couldn't just go pick it up , but there is 2 ferries between me and vancouver , that kills about 250 bucks to get there and back .

Keep it under fifty, if not for the fact that these sets have a TON of caps in them. You'll easily spend over a hundred bucks to recap it as it is anyway. Not to mention new tubes, etc. The safety glass looks cracked, too. You can do much better for the money you're considering offering. I think just about any B&W tube tv could be had for that price.

$50 is very generous, if you're concerned about the resale value. It's probably a $40 set. Those sets aren't super-collectible, and they're fairly common. That's the last 10" RCA; 1950. I'd pass on it at $35, personally.

But the flip side is, if you like the set, and it's worth it to you, go for it! I consider what I like before I consider the price. If I pay a high price for a TV that I like, I'm happy. I don't buy for an investment, and don't care what it's worth to others.

I'd say $35. Personally, I'm not big on sets with metal cabinets.

Also, if that's the one with the faux woodgrain finish, it's devilishly hard to touch up, so make sure it's in good shape. And the cloth is frequently damaged and also difficult to work with. Refinishing a wood-cased set is, in my opinion, a lot easier. So if both those cosmetic items are good, I'd go for it ($25-50; more if you really have the hots for it) but if it's not in good shape, I'd pass, be patient and know that something better will come along. 10BP4s are starting to get a little pricey lately too, so knowing the CRT is good will make it a lot better deal than if you need to also buy a replacement!

50 would be pushing the limit .
