picked up TO bomber clipper need front cover

I picked up a Bomber Trans-Oceanic this weekend. My first TO! But I am missing the front cover.:tears: overall the Radio seems to have been well used. The leather handle is missing, the hardware is loose, the leatherette is kinda rough, and the hardware is tarnished pretty good. So I have some elbow work to do. the radio works, but needs a good recap as it's is humming a little.

IF anyone has a lead on a front cover send me a PM. Oh, and in case anyone is wondering what I paid it was 12 bucks.:thmbsp:

That TO has that kind of tan "tweed" case, hmmm? Zenith built an AM-only set around the same time using a similar cabinet...one of those might be picked up for less $$ than a TO and contribute its cover to the cause.

Asbestos heat shields in the first Trans Oceanic's and other early radios

Be careful there is an asbestos heat shield in the first Trans Oceanic's. I use a respirator and soak the heat shield in polyurethane to encase the asbestos the remove and discard it. Other early radios also have asbestos in them be.

OK OK here it is. It's that fake black crock covering. The am only companion came in different coverings like the tweed. The companion is shorter in length so it will not work. But hinges could be donated I think.

Oops copy post. So I will edit this to add that the original owner was Eiler F. Hansen according to the tag on the inside. He even stapled his bi fold business card in there. He was a manufactures representative based in Chicago and his area was Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
