Need help with rare 1942 Zenith :dunno:

About 15 years ago I was at a swap meet and saw a Zenith chassis that looked like it was from a "Beverly" or other '42 console with a 7-S-xxx model number. The chassis had the 45-degree-angle cut on the left side (making it pentagonal). It was, upon closer inspection, an AM-only model with the same tube lineup (four Loktals, a 5Y3 and 2 6V6's). The dial-scale had almost the same arc and graphic font as the post-war "flip-dial" portable. I have little else to go on, and I'd love to at least identify the chassis, or find another one, or even just the dial. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The only console in the '42 brochure that was strictly AM was the 4K658. The 6G660 next to it had the same dial shape as the Beverly (7S682) but the Beverly had a simpler dial scale.

Hope this helps,

Ryan

Thanks, Ryan! I will have to scour my memory even harder on this, someone showed me a grainy B&W copy of a catalog page where you could see this AM-only dial. I almost bought this chassis upon sight, but I had another deal to do at that club meet, and when I walked back, I saw a total stranger waking off with it under his arm! :sigh:

Maybe the Zenith gods are still angry at me for cannibalizing the console my dad got me in '63. Just three years later, it was in pieces. :tears:
