Ask Michael Bennett-Levy, he is an owner of the Murphy A56V, and he sure has the schematics.

Steve McVoy of the Early Television Foundation has restored a Murphy A58V for the museum. This model has a TV chassis built around the A56V, and a AM/SW radio. So, he might be able to provide more informations.

Odd looking set. What is it with Murphy and peculiar designs? They made a small console radio with one of the strangest designs I've ever seen.

Murphy sets are going the german Braun way, but Murphy is of course older.
The style elements are similar.

The A56V sold in the MBL sale does not have the original chassis. It has a late 40s Murphy chassis, so the A56V schematic and alignment instructions will be of no use.

You need to find out what set the chassis came from, which will require the expertise of the people on the British discussion group. I suggest you try again to join their group.

If the forum disallows you because of your email provider, why don't you create a free Gmail (or whatever) account just for that forum.

I needed to do that so that I could reply to craigslist ads. Their server bounced back every email that I sent, with the message, "due to excessive SPAM." I have never sent SPAM in my life, of course. They just had my SMTP server on their blacklist for some reason.

The expert on all things Murphy is Mike Barker, who is also chairman of the British Vintage Wireless Society. Contact details here: http://www.bvws.org.uk/info/committee.htm He will definitely have all relevant documents and extensive knowledge about how the design evolved.

The UK forum is definitely a good place to discuss sets like this. Your ISP has probably found its way on to a Spamhaus or similar blacklist.

I raised this question in the UK forum and Paul Stenning, the forum owner, replied:

"There are several email domains that are blocked from registering due to being used extensively by forum spammers (they are mostly Russian ones, plus a few other country specific free ones). Googlemail, gmail, hotmail, live, yahoo etc are all fine though so signing up for one of those will solve the problem."

That's the reason, why I asked whether he did won the Murphy tv set of the Michael Bennett-Levy Early Technology Sale.

The original schematics are of no value in this case.

Sorry, I am maybe wrong with that model number,
I didn`t bought the Murphy mirror-in-lid from 1936 which was offered with a post-war chassis from Murphy.
I bought the 1938 Console without radio.
The set is pictured in the second book with its swing-out type chassis.
This one has to have a A 58 model number like the console with radio, which was
sold, too.
