I saw that and was planning on writing and giving him some info on it.

It's not all that common but not worth anywhere near that price, I gave $100 for mine in better shape than that.

One interesting thing, mine had an Octal socket on the back of the CRT that I thought was someones added on kludge so I removed it, now I see this set has the same thing!

Ho-Lee Hannah !! What an Ultramaroon...

He seems to have updated the description to acknowledge it's not worth what he's asking. I'm pretty sure he could cancel his auction and relist it if he really wanted to.

I wrote him (a polite note, I'm not the guy who asked if he was nuts) and gave my opinion on it's value.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of these in really good condition with all it's parts could sell for several hundred dollars, it is an unusual porthole, in the condition that one's in however I'd say maybe $100 tops, unless he changes the starting bid we'll never know.

I have never seen one of these before, what is it?

It's a Teletone.

The ETF has one.

On the plus side, you would earn $97 eBay Bucks if you bought it! ;)

I just threw a temper tantrum on the eBay forum. Anything that shows up in my "Saved Searches" automatically gets added to my "Watching List." They don't give you a way to contact them about bugs anymore.

I guess I won't cancel my membership though. Listings like this are too much fun to see...

Maybe start linking misguided sellers to the "How much is my set worth?" page on the ETF site?

I get at least 10 inquiries a week about 60s, 70s and even 80s sets. The message usually goes something like this:

"I have this beautiful xxx TV set in the basement, with a radio and record player. The cabinet is perfect, and it used to work. It would be perfect for your museum. I'll sell it for the right price."
