Seeking Zenith radio info.
 

I've seen these before, but is it worth $40? I've heard they sound pretty good. As of right now the seller on CL hasn't responded to my e-mail.

Too new for me, for forty dollars it had better be working perfectly and in great shape. That's about what I would pay for a 30s table radio in rough shape.

Uhh, yeah...That looks t'be an MJ-1035 w/outboard speaker from c.1965. They have 12 tubes, have great reception, & very good sound. More than likely, you'll have to re-cap it, & there's a selenium rectifier that'll prolly need replacing, but if its in good shape cosmetically, I'd go for it.

I tend to agree with leadlike, but if I recall a couple of those sold for stupidly high $$$ recently on eBay.

No Luck. I looked at the radio yesterday. The thing had cosmetic damage (chipped plastic and a hole in the grille clothe) in the front. The hole is not in the pictures which means they damaged it recently. Cord and speaker wire was somebody's custom job. Radio sounded good in one speaker, but the extension speaker was not connectable. Sellers were neanderthal antique dealers with a sales pitch. Needless to say, I didn't buy.

What sucks about living in Michigan is nobody has any money, so everyone is trying make huge $$ on anything they can find, including old radios :thumbsdn:
