It's a Full Dress Console Predicta from '58, model G4658. I believe the Miss America was a '60 model. Did they offer them earlier than that?

Strangely familiar. Hasn't that been on eBay before, at an even higher price?

I find it hard to be terribly sympathetic for the owner. At least he's honest enough to admit that he's suffering eBayer's remorse and now wants to "recoup as much money as possible."

The one in the antique shop by my house still has a price tag of $1200 dollars for theirs. Wonder where this mystery price came from that antique sellers think these things are gold? I'd think the dealers would reserve such prices for the classic swivel screen Predictas....oh well, the Miss America model does make an appearance in the movie Parents, so that must be the draw.

I thought there was a Miss America set in the fifties, but more traditional in style than this. I don't think I've ever seen this model-pretty neat. Limited market, though.

What was the largest swivel-screen Predicta? I know a vintage furniture/furnishings/electronics store that has one with a surprisingly large tube - probably around 19"-21".

The largest screen size Predicta was a 21", like my avatar.

Miss America was the top line B&W console. It was featured in the years when Philco advertised on the pagent. It was a marketing program. I don't recall it ever being put on a TV, just in brochures. There was a "D" Line Miss America for '56 that used the 440 / 444 chassis. The color TV123 was not a Miss America. I don't recall any before that. The program was dropped around '61-'62 under Ford.

I remember some executives escorting Miss America around the company while I was working in one of the labs. It was a new building and made a better showplace than the grungy TV plants in North Philly. Good duty for the MarCom guy that day.
