VINTAGE 1950's RCA VICTOR DELUXE TV BOOKSHELF
 

Not sure if this actually was a color or b&w TV? or maybe what's worse ... a fish tank or a book case! Would anyone be able to identify the model of RCA that once graced the cabinet?

That's a '56 era B&W set with 90 or 110-degree tube.

Haha that reminds me of my grandfather, they had a console set probably from the early 70s im guessing that quit and they bought a new one. He decided the console was too nice to throw out and gutted it with intentions to put shelves in it but never did. It sat in the living room for probably 20 years gutted. He had a sony am/fm 8 track/ record player combo sitting in it and my grandmother had knick knacks on top of it for years.

On this one I have to look at the good and the bad. The bad, is the obvious fact the TV was gutted when it could of been restored and kept as another great example of an old TV that works. The good, instead of throwing the TV out completely to the scrap heap, they at least made great use of the cabinet and turned it into a bookshelf with some nice finishing touches to it.

Don't assume it was done recently - my grandmother had one done in the late 60's - the TV set was a door model RCA, and a nice cabinet. When it died, she bought a color set (Zenith) and had the guts removed from the old RCA. It was made into a bookshelf after that.
