Another 50s colour kinescope recording found

G'day all.
I came across by chance in some forum a post on a colour kinescoped Sam Cooke performance on "The Arthur Murray Party" 6th October 1958 http://bsnpubs.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=3605876 , the guy gave the YouTube link, sadly it was taken down due to copyright reasons so I didn't have a chance to see it. Anyhow it's out there and available in bootleg sales according to this page http://www.songsofsamcooke.com/sam_on_screen.htm . I managed to get a little thumbnail of this clip off the google image search (see attached). Makes me wonder what else in terms of 50s colour kinescope and videotape recordings is out there waiting to be discovered. |
No doubt that the Ernie Kovacs "Silent Show" from 1957 has been mentioned, as a lenticular color kinescope resides in the UCLA archive. Hopefully, it will be included in an upcoming Kovacs box set.
Until then, this little gem is possibly from that broadcast: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PefS8tY_gnI Not sure, as I have a B&W tape of that show and I don't recall audience laughter, but regardless of its origin, it's great to see Kovacs in color! |
Ahh yeah, I got that clip on a DVD copy of a 1976 Betamax recording of "NBC: The First Fifty Years" and I uploaded it a while ago and someone downloaded it from my channel and reuploaded it, unfortunately my channel has been suspended but I endeavor to upload this clip again in superior quality.
