I think that might be a CTC5.

David Roper 02-04-2010 03:26 AM

Mmhmm, model number 21-CT-7855 crosses to the "Westcott" in mahogany, a CTC-5 Super.

kx250rider 02-04-2010 08:45 AM

As Dave says; CTC-5.

I STILL wouldn't kick it outta bed for eatin' crumbs...A CTC-5 is pretty desirable, too...

Electrohome 02-04-2010 12:56 PM

Yup, I have a Westcott too from late 1956 I got from Milwaukee, Wisconsin in May-June of 2008. They're a nice, early CTC-5 color TV to have:-)

Dan Starnes 02-04-2010 03:30 PM

That is within striking distance for me.

rca2000 02-06-2010 12:01 AM

Me too..I am hoping this will become my first 5. SOOOOO many have slipped through my hands--including one in Dayton.

Was considering bidding on this set as it is less than an hours drive from me.

But, it looks like is has seen a considerable amount of moisture in its lifetime, the chassis has serious rust, and I am not wild about the looks of the neck of the kine. Gun assembly looks white - I would have to make sure it has a working kinescope before bidding, especially at the opening bid price. Just too many variables with this set for me.

rca2000 02-15-2010 09:20 PM

Let's hope not.

I now own this set. I just had to take the chance. I have seen MUCH worse sets sell for MUCH more, like that table mode 5 that sold for about $1K a couple of years ago, left the country--and had a dead CRT. Money is short right now, but i just could NOT pass it up, without a try.

And the cabinet is not that bad. not great...but not terrible either. As I said...seen much worse go for more.(unless, of course someone knows something about this set I did not...) Some rust on the chassis, yes, but "all appears to be there"--including the back and knobs. One way or another..I now OWN a 5, as soon as I pick it up, probably next week. It is not that far away--about 3 hours or so.

It will NOT be going into one of my storage garages, rather, either the house garage, or hopefully...I can sneak it down the basement into the house!! I already "scoped out" a spot tonight. After all--it is a pre-1960 color set--something I have wanted, since I wasted that ctc5 table model in 1978, at 11 years old. No matter WHAT..that will NOT happen to this one!!

And if the CRT is at least decent...then it alone was worth the price of 'admission". If not.....I at least have the chassis and cabinet. When I get it into the garage or basement, I will do a 'cursory check" and then remove the 2 5U4'S "s and run it for a week or two, to thoroughly 'warm up" everything. I will also probably check the tube, with my CR-70.

Congratulations! I was surprised that more people didn't bid on it. I was tempted, but I would have had to store it out in my garage.

The veneer damage should be repairable. Hope you have good luck with the CRT.

Keepin' fingers 'n' toes crossed for you on the CRT...(grin)
