RCA 'Dimensia' Wide-band Chroma
 

RCA's interesting 'Dimensia' premium series TV (1984) claimed up to "3 times" the color detail of other TVs by decoding the full transmitted chroma bandwidth (1.5mHz) like some of RCA's earliest 'Deluxe' receivers in the 50s!

Other features on this once expensive - and heavy - 100lb TV are emission print out on 27" flat square CRT implying it was batch selected, multiple inputs/outputs w/ loop thru on Vid 1, A/V control port, A/V multipin socket.

All this makes these gems (which few could afford at the time) a worthy candidate for museums & private collections (while they can still be found).

Seems interesting, where did you get the info and the photos? The premium price suggests it should be as good as the original CTC-2/Bs in picture quality. I'll have to start digging into this one and find out more. Thanks for the posting. Tom

Yes those Dimensia TVs are indeed very impressive. Years ago, in the small town where I grew up, I remember a guy having the 1984 version of the Dimensia TV and all the original Dimensia system stereo components. He pretty much had everything except the videodisc player. It was a very impressive setup and was the first time I ever saw a linear tracking turntable that opened up like a drawer when you wanted to play a record. The early Dimensia TVs had a system control computer in them that could talk to all the stereo components which made the system very easy to operate. I've been wanting to assemble my own Dimensia system for a long time but have NO ROOM!!! Here's a web page with good information about the system.

I found this unloved TV out on the sidewalk on High St, Racine - one block from North Beach. Picture tube is very good and this premium series also featured automatic RGB balance tracking which helps. Convergence is excellent with no touch ups required.:thmbsp:

Thanks for the "heads up" These are great looking TVs and components that could easily be passed over by un-informed collectors such as myself! I had never heard of this series before reading this thread. I have seen plenty of 25" Sony "Profeel" component "monitor" sets from the same era, but never one of these (that I know of).

Neat WB IQ TV you got there. I have always wondered why VK forum Guys seem to favor cartoon characters screen shots to demo their CTVs. They usually have no fine detail to determine resolution and have no graduations in large color areas like faces to determine chroma fidelity. Do you have DVDs that have "natural scenes" of people or nature things that you can post as screen shots? Hopefully at max 900 pix so we can get a better idea of what your TV is capable of. Tom

Agree; It was a quickie; will get a better shot once this monitor is set up properly

I wonder if this set is I & Q wideband? It's an RCA VJM 2005 S (1983). I can't remember for sure, and I don't have a Sams book handy to verify, but I think it's a CTC-121. This is the one with a zillion jacks and inputs, including bridgeable video in & out, video level adjustable, and stereo amp (not stereo tuner, and only one speaker). It's basically a Dimensia without the Control ports. The remote is also like the Dimensia; with the removable tinted panel to cover the VCR & audio controls. (it's the original remote)
