I found this at a flea market. It is a Siemens Schatulle M57. I am new to radios I mainly mess with audio equipment. I could not pass this up. WOW what a fabulous radio. I have never heard of this or seen one before. Does anyone have any information on this? This thing sounds great!

Those German tabletop sets usually are pretty decent performers, & they look terrific, too. A recapping might be in order, though. Hopefully, you got the "North American" version that has the FM going all the way to 108...I've seen 'em stop at 100 or 104.

It is not a US model but that's is ok. I will do a recapp at some point but I really need a schematic for it. I hope that is not to hard to find

Try looking in the back - I've seen some German sets with a schematic tucked inside the back cover.

Here is an ad for your radio from a 1956 German sales brochure. I might have a schematic for it but I'm not sure if my German schematics go that new.

Perfect! Thanks for the link. This is a big radio not sure how many caps are in there but looks like a big project. Right now it plays fantastic but I am sure it could use some new caps

Rohren = Tubes. Says it has 12 tubes. That's about all the German I know, despite the fact I kinda are one, more or less. The rest of that ad, they might be fixin' to invade Belgium or something, for all I know. Still think you got yrself a dandy fine new playpretty there... (grin)

Are these rare or common?

I'd say they're kinda rare. It coulda been bought overseas by a GI, & shipped back home when he came home. Looks like it was a pretty "Bucks up" set to begin with, what w/12 "Rohrens" & all. Plus, its around 50 yrs old now-give or take a year or 2. All that logically means that you prolly aren't gonna be tripping over 'em in every antique store you visit...

I have one of these too, actually there are a couple different models of the Schatulle, some smaller than others, but all have the doors. Yours looks the same as mine, the power/volume switch being on the small "wheel" in front of the piano keys. Its neat cause you can close the doors and the tuning eye and dial lights will go out, thus extending the life of the eye tube. Smaller versions of the Schatulle have the power switch as on of the piano keys. Absolutely great performance, I use mine several times week. Be sure to recap the filters and the audio output if nothing else, transformers in these are irreplaceable. 73's Chris
