I like it. Probably worth it too.

OMG, that's pretty!

Eric H 03-29-2010 01:32 PM

Very nice.
While I wouldn't pay that myself I can easily see someone buying it for that since it's restored and working.

"Right off the showroom floor." Beautiful time capsule.

zenith tv

The one for 305.00 looks like a 16 inch set. The 19 inch sets are not that easy to find. That was a nice set and with a new crt makes it worth it I guess.

cwmoser 04-05-2010 12:30 PM

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe its a 12" set.

I dreamed that the 19" set would get no bids and I offered a price and he took it.
Then I had to drive 14 hours there to pick it up, and then drive 14 hours back with it.
I worried how well it would survive a 14 hour ride laying on its side in the back of a van.

Still, its definitely the creme da la creme of Zenith portholes.
Hope both of those TVs were bought by forum members.

I was the first bidder on the $305 set but dropped out as the price climbed - don't know who got it.

I STILL want me a leather-covered restored "Claridge" sometime before I shuffle off this mortal coil...

I was hoping you would get that Porthole and take us through the restoration. Looked like it would make a nice TV.

Hey that looks like a very interesting TV.
Tell us more about it.
Got any more pictures?

bandersen 04-05-2010 05:44 PM

Thanks, it's a GE 802. Leadlike is currently restoring one in this thread: http://www.videokarma.org/showthread.php?t=246203

I'll do a restoration thread on it sometime soon. More pics here.

leadlike 04-05-2010 06:12 PM

Banderson, it looks like you are missing some knobs from your 802. Let me know if you need pictures of the ones you are missing.

Howdy. Tim here. I was the one who purchased the one for $305....a buddy of mine is going to fetch it for me for free. :) It was more than I wanted to spend, but aren't they all.

I know that these can be a pain, but I just love the looks of these sets. I am sure that I will need help getting it going, and since I plan on watching it a bit, I am sure I will be looking for extra picture tubes as well as flybacks. :)
