Glass resistor

I had a thread a while back about my Apex radio. Most people thought it was a home brew but I really like it. The grid leak resistor was a glass tube with metal ends and it has a sticker on it. It should be 3 meg ohms and it tests at 7 meg.My tube book states that the 01a should have a grid leak resis. of 2-5 meg if I remember correctly. i put the correct value in but now I would like to find the correct style. Any ideas where I can find that syle resistor?

I don't think that is anything you will find New or even NOS. This guy built his own:

Have you tried running the radio with the 7 meg resistor in? I don't think they change much in value, being carbon-coated glass, so it should run as well as it did originally. You could also parallel in different resistors until you get 3 meg.

Play Things of the Past has grid leak resistors.

Usual - no affiliation, just a happy customer.

Agree with Leadlike that the radio should play fine with 7 megs: in fact, you might want to experiment with different values. What some have done is left the old glass resistor in place for looks and paralleled it with a modern hidden one. Of course you'd have to figure the total for parallel resistors, or "discombuberate" the old one.
