Rca New Vista's
2 Attachment(s)
I am thinking about donating a CRT from my zenith roundie to save a new vista.
As I already have 1 good working Zenith Roundie are there any troubles with a New Vista I should be aware of before going on with my plans? I would repair the cataract RCA before I reinstall it in the zenith when it gets a total rebuild. Here are the ones in my holding area, you can see how bad the cataract is. |
The New Vista name was used for various RCA sets that use a nuvistor in the front end, so I don't know exactly what model you've got. I'm a pretty mediocre TV mechanic, but I was able to restore two CTC-11s with no major roadblocks and good results at the end. Apart from replacing electrolytics, neither one needed much work.
Haven't owned any Zenith TVs, so I can't say how RCA would compare. Phil Nelson |

cataract isnt all that bad.it is still attached in the center.should heat up and come off pretty easy.i have seen many of these cataracts.i have the same cabinet for a ctc15 in my garage.the set was a parts donor.when i got it,there were so many parts scavenged!i like the roundie combo!

I powered up the combo unit tonight, it worked and presented a good color picture with no apparent troubles, I will give it the usual cap/resistor & chassis rebuild and also add it to the daily drivers in my house. The Am/FM stereo failed to produce sound but the phono worked perfect. The stand alone set failed to have raster but had sound with cap hum so that one will be a bigger project with the CRT problems.
