roundie?

I looked at this and see a rectangle with a bad cat, others see a roundie.

Looks a bit new for a roundie to me.

either way I would take it home

Sandy G 07-27-2010 01:46 PM

Pretty sure its a Roundie...But yeah, I'd take it, either way.

DaveWM 07-27-2010 01:48 PM

yea the more I look at it the more the corners seem too consistant to be a cat on a rectangle.

St Paul Roundie

It is certainly a round tube, I recall in my youth the set.
may be shadow or cataract

Definitely a roundie, same mask around the crt as mine. Looks like it has the space-commander too, that's probably Zenith's top model combo for maybe '64? Someone needs to pick this unit up, and its not me, I just recently drove to Milwaukee to pick up two Philco console radios (a 1939 with the remote, and a 1941 with the beam-of-light phono).

Yep, roundie, and look at that wood! Very well taken care of!

zenithfan1 07-27-2010 03:44 PM

Very nice '64 Zenith. It needs to be grabbed promptly. Same set as my avatar but a combo, probably has the 25LC20QS chassis. There's no UHF so it may have been built in early '64 or in late '63 like mine.

roundie with sulfide tube and matching greenish bezel

rca2000 07-27-2010 07:30 PM

I have one JUST like that!!

It is a 64 Zenith Roundie. Mine--too--has a bad cataract, but a GREAT tube behind it. No UHF, and SS space command--the type mounted"vertically"over the HV cage. It is a 25LC20 chassis, and the stereo is a hybrid. the preamp and amp are SS. The amp is mounted under the tuner on the left side of the set. It has big sinks with germanium, transistors on them, and a decent-sized power tranny. 12", 3 way speakers, with horns. 11 tubes total for the tuner. Eye tube too. Stereo chassis is probably 11L8t25/8MT25.

If it was me I WOULD get it--but I have one already...and no room for another. I got mine for about $20(plus driving to SC to get it and back) back about this time of 2003.) Hope you can get a decent deal for this one.

I worked for a large Zenith dealer from 63 to 70 and never saw that one.
I thought I had seen them all. We sold a lot of combos.
And that cabinet will be all wood or wood veneer.
A beautiful work of art.

HERE IS an RCA roundie combo right in your own backyard!!

I do NOT desire this--have one a lot like it already--so go for it.

Doesn't look like a roundie to me, but maybe it's the camera angle.

rca2000 07-28-2010 08:18 PM

My mistake...still...it is a vintage combo RCA set.
