~1958 rca 9-tx-2

I picked this up over the weekend at an uneventful flea-market. I have to admit, I bought it for the logo which was falling off. Radio price, $0.25. One problem is that upon taking off the back I discovered it has a large-format 9V battery in it, not a 4.5V.....

:grumpy:

I have not checked any of the transistors yet. At least they are socketed and easy to remove. I think I will take a shot at getting it rolling again. It needs a lot, knobs, new slide-rule plexi, refinish, & unknown electronics fiddling. Something about it says "keeper" though. If anyone has a schematic please PM me.

I have one of these, too. Worked OOTS in '85 when I bought it at Goodwill or SalArmy or Saint Vinnie's. Do you have a public library nearby? They often have Sams' Photofacts or Beitman's M-O-N Schematics available for the copying.

It may have survived the installation of a 9-volt unit, as long as polarity was
not reversed. Replacement germanium transistors may not be that hard to find
in case any were blasted. Good luck!

Sams folder 423-19, had to remove the dashes to find it. None on the Bay right now...

That is good to know, here's hoping!
