Has anyone replaced the ballast tube used in the model tv-37 set, with 15w resistors, if so can you show or tell what you did to replace this hard to find ballast tube. thanks:scratch2:

Are you talking a Pilot TV-37? If so, I don't see a ballast tube in the schematic:

When I first got my VT-71 I did some dumb things; I managed to cause a meltdown in the ballast, destroying one of the elements. I think I ended up putting one or two resistors inside the old cage and maybe mounting a third under the chassis, but that has been a few years ago. It did work just fine. I guess I need to look at my Pilot as I don't recall what it uses exactly. I do know that both of the Pilot radios I own (and they are both huge table models) use a ballast which seems out of place.
