Thanks for all the photos. I had ear surgery and could not make the trip to Hilliard this year. Boy, did I ever miss a lot of cool stuff.

I looked through the auction photos and didn't see anything newer than about 1956... Would I be correct?

ceebee23 05-08-2011 08:55 PM

wonderful!

thanks for the great images ... some of the sets are serious drool material.

The CBS/Zenith SK set is one fantastic stuff as is that extraordinary drum field sequential NTSC home build...wow....

To all those expressing thanks for the pics - you're welcome, it's my pleasure since some people aren't able to attend. I'm never sure if I might be missing something important, so I try to capture a lot of what's new plus some miscellaneous museum pieces that catch my eye.

One request I have is that NAMES of folks might be attached to the pics...OTOH, if you're like me & have what has been politely described as a "Face for Radio", I can understand why you WOULDN'T wanna be identified...(grin) Still, its ALWAYS great for a guy like me to see examples of exotic gear that I know I'll likely NEVER otherwise see....

The timing has always been off for me to attend..and I would have places to stay too! We'll see what happens next year.

The annual Saturday night gathering at Max & Erma's is a who's who of VK. I could name over a dozen regular posters off the top of my head, but would rather caption one of the pictures taken when it is posted--even though it might require drawing a reference with numbered silhouettes. :)

Would have been difficult (and expensive) for me this year; I was in Melbourne, Vic. Australia. Maybe next year? But wait... I will be in Florida then...

Oh well..._:)

I did! We lived 3-4 blocks from Museum Victoria at the Plum Carlton, corner of Queensberry and Swanston Streets. Spent a lot of money a Queen Victoria Market. One thing that was a little different was spending $18 for a six-pack of Carlton Draught. We are use to spending $16-22 a case here for stubbies.

My son-in-law got a job as Curator of Mammals at MV. I assisted them on the move to Victoria. Now, they are renting a house in Rosanna, just north of Heidelberg. I have a lot of experience with the CBD of Melbourne (Pronounced "Melbin"!) and will certainly be back many, many times. I even got to drive on the "wrong" side of the street.

"We now return you to your regularly scheduled program"

Sorry if I went OT, wish we could have met up! I would have loved to have brought home a valve radio...

Is Phar Lap still there (on the ground floor)?(along with that (replica?) Gold Nugget found in 1800's Gold Rush)

A must see on the way to Early Television Museum is the Air Force Museum near Dayton !

Here's my contribution, a shot of the drum set with Dorthy.

I still have to upload the rest, I'll probably just make a ZIP file.
