Not a great quality video shoot, and it's sideways. :D But you can see the TV set operating nicely from my personal mini cable system. 3 CECB ATSC converter boxes, on channels 2, 4, and 5 (the 2 and 5 boxes were modified).

Nice setup. I've noticed on my Admirals that the reception is better on 2-6 than 8-13. Could just be that my alignment skills are lacking at higher frequencies :)

Modified you say? this peaks my interest as I've always hated being limited to CH 3 and 4 that most VCRs and converter boxes output. Could you please elaborate on the modifications you made?

I'm relatively new to antique tvs, but I never understood why you even need to use any converter boxes at all to get a signal if you can connect your cable right into the antenna jack with a balun connector. That's if you have cable, of course. My TVK-12 works fine that way, although it has an inductive tuner. Hopefully the cable companies will continue to use an analog signal, which they probably will because it's easier for them to keep it.

Cable companies are only required to offer analog service until early 2012. After that they will likely shut it off to save expense and force all users to rent digital set top boxes, thus making more money.

If that happens , I'll just drop them for tv service and pick what I can off the air. Other than testing my restorations, I don't watch much cable tv anyway. I'll keep them for internet, though. But if they keep analog transmission, I'll keep them. Hey, I am only the customer.
