Two Craigslist Finds

I was browsing craigslist in Pgh the other night and came across a guy selling "two old 30s radios." I wasn't sure what they were in the photo but I emailed him and set up to look at them earlier in the day before work. I went and picked them up yesterday and they are amazing.

The first is a Truetone D1170B with an AM radio and phonograph. This is supposedly different than the D1170 so I have not been able to locate a schematic.

The second radio is a Philco Jr Model 80C from 1932. The cabinet is in really great shape and the guy even had it plugged in and picking up stations with a clear, crisp sound. The cord has seen better days but after a recap and cleaning it should be good to go.

I have the EXACT same model and cabinet Truetone as yours. And yours is the second one I've seen so it is probably a not very common model.

Would you happen to have the schematic or any other info on this model? The D1170B doesn't show up on RadioMuseum and I'm not sure if the D1170 is the same thing.

If it is listed in riders, I might have it.
Mine worked from the time I bought it so I never sought out a schematic for it.
Someone told me to see if it was made by a certain designer, but I forgot the name before I left the swap meet.

That is the schematic for the D1170 where mine is the D1170B. The "bottom view of chassis" on there does not look like mine. They are the same tubes but they are positioned differently. I'm sure everything could be the same just in a different place but I would like to be sure. I guess I will have to pull the chassis on mine and follow the D1170 schematic and see if there are any differences.

The Truetone was made by Detrola. You might look around to see if there is a version that they sold under their name. They also made radios for other brands, mostly regional department stores.
