2 "New" Scores in...

I made the mistake of visiting Clay Fugate of Fugate's TV the other day, & 2 old sets that needed homes found 'em, for the munificent sum of $40 for both, & they both work pretty well. One is a Clarion/Warwick, ModelC103, it has 6 tubes, the other is a Sonora RBMU-1. Both have that late '40s "Jello Mold" look to 'em, the Sonora has a piece broken outta the case, the Clarion is intact, but many chips. Both are sort of an "Ivory" color. Shouldn't have got 'em, I NEED more AA5s or 6s like another Hole in my Head, but I just can't resist forlorn old radios lookin' for homes.. I don't guess any of YOU byrds have that problem, do you ?!? (grin)

Oh, I never have that problem...

At least you would be a better caretaker for them as opposed to being in harm's way!

Looked 'em up on Google..The Clarion was made in '46, couldn't find anything on the Sonora, but that might not be its true model #, the paper label on the bottom is kinda "Shazzbat". No matter, they're here & will be safe...I'm Nutz, ain't I ? (grin)

I used to gobble up sets like that. Now I'm more into TVs, but I still go to radio meets and still buy more radios than I have room for. I tend to look for cheep stuff I can flip, but there are many many sets that I like enough not to flip. I personally love the Art Deco styling that many radios have MUCH more than the styling on most TVs that I can afford.

What's amazing is how well some of 'em perform...NONE of 'em will equal-or even really come close to one of my big military Bacon-Fryers, but OTOH, some of 'em do quite well, indeed.
