Solid State Iconoscope TV Camera...
 

The gentleman who built this modern wonder is a very fine designer, draftsman, engineer, craftsman, machinist, and any other talent that can be ascribed to the completion of this feat. He's using an original Iconoscope from 1931 and making really beautiful video with it.

Wow...That guy apparently can do it ALL....Electronics, milling, machining...Unbelievable.

The guy's a genius, hopefully he made a better camera tube mount w/ more cushioning as first tube cracked. Awesome pictures done. 70s vide camera same concept. A solid state video camera w/ only camera tube BEING the only tube.

SOMEONE HERE SHOULD seriously give this guy some prewar crt crts and some early 21" color tubes to make some solid state tvs.

I'm sure someone here in USA can. There are some solid stae color wheels done for b/w tv even tho info isn't shared.

I echo everyone's positive comments, he is a true genius and I congratulate him for his success in building that Iconoscope camera and making it work really really good!!! :D

I am glad to have found that video on YouTube just typing in iconoscope and checking the latest video uploads, good thing it was titled in English as well as Japanese otherwise I would of never found it.

Anyhow I've made a picture collage of stills from that video and a 3" image orthicon video (Eisenhower dedication to WRC-TV 1958) and a video I made from my 1974 Sony AVC-3250CE 2/3" vidicon camera to compare the differences between the 3 tubes. Love to hear comments on it.

Amazing. I've always wondered if older cameras could be driven with modern electronics, but to build one up from scratch is very impressive.
