Who's killing a Zenith roundie in Detroit? Update!
 

I guess you could call this a vintage trifecta!
I purchased the chassis to this set after the seller contacted me about a week after he placed the ad. He sold the CRT already, so that was gone. The fellow owns a vintage furniture store, and does quite a lot of business with the retro crowd, so I figured the cabinet was already redone for something else.
Regardless, I told him if his plans fell through, to call me and I would purchase the cabinet. Well, he called me a few weeks later, and said if I wanted the cabinet it was mine! His customer ran out of money/lost interest in the project!
I had the chassis and cabinet, but then had to find the CRT..Well I did, and it was a member here that got it! After telling him the story, and some back and forth bartering, I got that too!
So here it is, all back together!

now let's see how it operates! It's a cabinet worthy of a place in a nice room... The old tv tech i recently got my silvertone from said Zeniths were by far the best from that era, because they had all the capacitors under the chassis, and tubes on top, so suffered less heat related failure than others

It works, just had to replace a 6KT8 and free up the fine tuning mechanisim!

That set really made the rounds (pun intended) before you got it back in one piece!

What helped me get the chassis, and later the cabinet, was just being decent with the guy. Someone else gave him a hard time and he crossed him off the list! (The seller found this forum and was reading the story) So...It pays to be a nice person and not be an arrogant fool! LOL!
*Edit* Before anyone feels offended.. The seller used the term "arrogant fool" not me!

And I totally agree it pays to be nice to the seller as you get the best results, it's like being a customer in a restaurant, be nice and you're more likely to get good service, be a rude customer and the chances are one of the chef's could spit on your meal in retaliation without you knowing lol.

LOL! I know someone like that.. Almost every time he goes out to the steak house near him, he sits like a king at the table and is rude and arrogant to the waitress.. 'prolly gets a lot of "extras" in his food!!

BTW, the set is a 1965 SC600 with the 25MC43 chassis.

I was looking through my old posts and came across this one.. This had to be my best save ever!
Almost four years later, it's still being enjoyed by another collector, and not repurposed into something else!
