website for Aussie radio schematics, circuits and tubes you don't see in the USA
http://www.kevinchant.com/
Has lots of schematics and service documentation for many Australian radios. Found it interesting to look at, as they used a wider selection of tubes than American radio manufacturers used. Odd tubes like the 6BV7, an audio output tube that also included detector diodes. Almost all Aussie radios used power transformers, as their powerline (mains) is 230VAC. Vs our relatively puny 120VAC :) I have a few Aussie radios, and they are perfectly happy with 60Hz, and I ran 15 amp 240VAC circuits to NEMA 6-15 outlets and also some very old American "crawfoot" outlets that happen to fit exactly Aussie mains plugs. http://www.wa2ise.com/radios/americanaussieoutlet.jpg The Aussie radios also don't care that the line is a pair of 120VAC to ground lines, adding up to 240VAC. |
