Kutztown finds

Well becoming that time of year again, went to the Kutztown show both days. On friday picked up a sentinel 268T510 table top and a nice rca 97-T.
Both work as found. On Saturday met Reese there and picked up my silvertone E chassis, the one that a prior owner had messed with the wiring and I could not figure it out, and gave him the "mystery" wannamaker chassis for a shot at. Thanks again Reese!
Saturday finds were a nice philco 37-34b cathedral, and 2 that I was not planning on getting, but after some persuasive conversation by my fiancee, I picked up a philco 46-132 and a nice stewart-warner 300, which turns out to be the oldest set I currently have.
Will post pics on the progress of these sets.

If I were just closer-as it is I would have to stay overnight, or get up at some terrible hour in the morning to make that 3+hour trek. Hmmmm.....Kim has a friend near Reading, maybe next time we could stay at her place the night before...

Last fall meet at DVHRC Kutztown, I rescued a Philco 42-1008 that is missing the speaker, knobs and tubes. That cabinet looks great. Last saturday, I was in the area and stopped as 3-4 guys were still there packing up.

Found in the junk pile a Philco early version 118-X, cabinet only. Now I am looking for a chassis. The guy begged me to rescue it.

Some guys just do not want to bring stuff back home.

I will be there May 13, 2012 trying to sell a few, but always come home with more.

Such is this hobby - save them all!

Sure do wish I lived closer to Kutztown. Sigh...

It's a 45 minute drive for me and I go to both spring and fall meets, usually. It's really worth going. If you don't want to take a hotel you can snooze free in your vehicle on site. This time I didn't need much so only bought a few tubes, some a dollar or two apiece, some three for five dollars, and one knob of two needed for a Trav-ler. Now just need to find its brother.

Another thing found at kutztown, at first I thought it was a large radio antenna of sorts, turns out it's a huge Tesla coil! My first thoughts were Bandersen should get this, he could get this going

:D I did build a few Tesla coils back when I was a teenager. That's when I picked up those ignition transformers I use as weights in a few of my photos.

My largest could do about 250,000 volts. I had a lot of arcing between windings and it didn't last long, but it sure was cool while it did http://www.jawaspot.com/smilies/shocking.gif
