Makes me shudder . . .

Look at what happened to this gorgeous console! :tears: I hope he dropped the chassis on his feet . . .

This is what happens when people have no idea that people like us can make even some of the worst of these work.

its a good looking cabinet for one has a good working chassis without one:yes:

:thumbsdn: I dont mean to be spitefull , but , , , , Every time I see such a horrible hack job done to a great old TV , , , , I secretly hope it leaks all over the floor of the butcher who "created" it .

Sad to say , but yea , , such hack jobs ARE proof that sometimes just knowing how to use tools doesnt always guarentee that the person has the brains to know what NOT to do with them :sigh:

GRRR! Doing that to a nice looking vintage set really annoys me....I agree with init4fun's comment about that tank leaking...Hope it stains their carpet or something....

benman94 11-02-2011 01:37 PM

The ONLY way that tanking a set would make sense is if the cabinet was in such a horrid state it could never be repaired to an acceptable level (impossible in my mind) and the electronics are irreparable. Even then, the chassis should be parted out to collectors along with all of the knobs, the speakers, hell even the back and grill cloth.

This may sound mean, but on nicer sets that get tanked I always hope the CRT imploded on the tanker during removal (to maybe get a urban ledgend going that fishtanking is lethal, on top of the set getting revenge/a chance to defend it's self!).

Oh, sorry, isn`t it an early color TV in working condition?:yippy:

Best regards,

TV-collector :stupid:

I didn't want to say it, but I think the same thing Tom. I always imagine it'd be the old warriors way of getting the last laugh. We should try to get that urban legend going though. Normally I don't participate in chain emails, but I may start one if it means saving one more set. I could pick up some fake blood at a Halloween store sale, make some fake implosion pictures involving the carotid artery . . . This could get interesting. :D

Oh well. We can't save them all...

It's his TV. Let the maroon have his fun.
