All Those Predictas on the Bay
 

What is it with all those Predictas getting high prices on Ebay? There seems to be a higher number of them than usual on Ebay lately--have I missed something about those or what?

There are a lot of people into mid-century modern furnishings out there who don't know the first thing about TV, have tons of money to spend, and consider those sets to be rare and iconic.

They are more common than many models of their day because they were so unique looking that many of their owners hung on to them. These sets had some major design deficiencies that led to them getting a bad reputation among repairman. Some TV collectors that aren't crazy for the look of them don't want them based on their electronic issues alone.

They probably would not be worth (they would still be well above average because of their unique look though) as much on ebay or among TV collectors if the retro/mid-century modern furniture crowd was not bidding these sets up sky high.
