Play itunes TV from ipad to hdtv

Hi,

I bought an ipad to hdmi adapter and hooked up my ipad to my hdtv. It mirrors okay, but when I try to play a TV show from iTunes I get a message stating I can't do this. I assume this has to do with DRM, which aggravates the heck out of me since I already paid for the program, and just want to watch it on a bigger screen.

Any suggestions/workarounds are appreciated - thanks!

I'm sure it's because you are using HDMI, the DRM isn't allowing it.
Have you tried it through the Composite or Component inputs?

My old 5th gen iPod uses a cable to hook to the Composite inputs, the picture is pretty blah though. Component should give a decent picture though, I don't know enough about iPad to know if that's an option.

Since I started using Roku to stream I haven't used the Pod anymore for video.

I think the newest Apple TV (3"x 3"x 1" square box) will do it, if it's a current iPad. It may not show at full resolution, though. The joys of the walled garden, and all.

So there's no way around the DRM? I can't believe after paying Apple for the program, they won't allow me to simply view it on my HDTV, especially when they sell this adapter as a method to do just that! :wtf:

The only good solution I know is to switch from that Apple device to an Android tablet or other non-Apple equipment.

Could also b!tch out the folks at apple and see if they will do anything....maybe threaten to drop the brand and write a scathing review online.

I don't know much about Apple products but I wonder if you have to use it with the Apple TV unit?

Says right here on their Site
"Play content from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch on your HDTV.2 Watch movies, play music, show off your videos and photos — even show what's on your screen to enjoy games, web pages, and more.3"

Using their device of course.
