CTC-15 Combo
 

I found this on Craigslist in Allentown PA Memorial Day weekend.
Finally got it home today. The crt is a channel master from 1980 and the repair tags are from 1981. Powered up without HOT got sound. The caps were cool after 10 min. so tried with the HOT. I got a picture !!!!!!!
Pulls about 202 mA from the HOT.
Did a quick degauss and fiddled with tuner.

Very cool! As well as cathode current, feel the fly after it runs for awhile. If the horz centering pot is open cathode current will be ok but fly will get super hot. crt looks clean too, what a find.

Very nice set. Hope the stereo is as good as the Tv. Looks like you have some converging to do too. Have fun. I would and did on my set last weekend.

Wow that's really awesome! I don't think I've come across a crt that new... maybe the newest I've seen was 1978 (and it was weak). I, too, am curious if it's a black matrix tube. Are there any other labels on the tube?

The cabinet looks to be in really nice condition. Looks like you got a good one there. How much did they want for it?

I found the tag it was up near the record changer.
Is this a rebuilt tube ?
I can't see the date all that well but it sure looks like 1980.
The paper tag doesn't look very old.
So far that is all the markings I could find.
I did not put my crt tester on it yet.

They were asking $250 I got it for $175. When I saw the crt in person I didnt mind the price even if the chassis was trashed (its not). I had a feeling about the crt being good and $175 for a 21fj with no catarac.

The 21GVP22 uses the rare-earth red phosphor and has the anti-glare face plate. If it's a Black Matrix tube, there would be a label identifying it as such. Yes, it sure does look like it says 1980. Hope you find you've got healthy emissions on all three guns. Considering the way your screen shot photo looks, you've got a winner.

I could be wrong here, but I seem to remember that after the mid-seventies the were no more "all new" roundie tubes being produced, and there were lots of "duds" to be had and no real chance of a black matrix roundie. At least according to my memory and literature I've seen.

After reading that label on your tube it looks like a new gun was installed with using other "used" components.

I have seen a Zenith 24NC30 that had an original RE21FJP22 in it. However the G1's were discolored from the extra heat of a brightner and it was toast..

You think its rebuilt ?
What did they do about cataracs when rebuilding
